Shankar Dayal is an Indian screenwriter and film director born on January 1, 1975, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His journey as a film director commenced in 2008 with the film “Arambam.” Originally, the film was intended to mark the debut of actor Adharvaa Murali, but due to financial issues faced by Pyramid Saimira, the project was canceled.
Shankar Dayal also made his mark as a dialogue writer for the successful 2007 film “Deepavali,” directed by Ezhil. This Tamil romance film starred Raghuvaran, Bhavana, Vijayakumar, and Lal in lead roles and was well-received upon its release on February 9, 2007. The film was produced by Thirupathi Brothers.
In 2011, Shankar Dayal embarked on the making of “Saguni,” a film he both wrote and directed. Produced by S R Prabhu, the movie featured Karthi and Pranitha in leading roles, with music by G.V. Prakash Kumar. “Saguni” falls under the genre of action comedy drama and was a political satire film. Notable actors such as Roja, Santhanam, Nassar, and Raadhika Sarathkumar played supporting roles. The film was released on June 22, 2012, and received mixed reviews. Its Telugu version, “Shakuni,” achieved success at the box office, and the film’s soundtrack was well-received.
Shankar Dayal initiated work on his next project, “Veera Dheera Sooran,” in 2015, with Catherine Teresa and Vishnu in the lead roles. While the film was initially launched by Suseenthiran in October 2011, it faced delays and was ultimately shelved. Shankar Dayal gained recognition as a director through “Saguni,” and though he may not be a prominent name in the industry, he is known for his work in this particular film.
