Indian actor Shakthi Vasudevan (born Prashanth Vasudevan) primarily performs in Tamil-language motion pictures. Before playing the lead in Thottal Poo Malarum (2007), Shakthi, the son of filmmaker P. Vasu, started out as a child artist in his father’s movies. Since then, he has had some success as an actor, most notably in his father’s Kannada movies Shivalinga (2016) and Ninaithale Inikkum (2009).
Shakthi initially appeared in his father P. Vasu’s films as a young artist, playing minor parts in Senthamizh Paattu (1992), Chinna Thambi (1991), and Nadigan (1990). He reprised his role as the protagonist in his father’s Thottal Poo Malarum (2007), however the movie did mediocrely at the box office. Sify.com said that “he is good looking and does his role with a certain amount of confidence” and that “the only silver lining is Sakthi who makes a decent debut” in reference to his performance.
His next two films, the collegiate drama Ninaithale Inikkum (2009) and the love comedy Mahesh Saranya Matrum Palar (2008), both received positive reviews and did well at the box office. In the former movie, Shakthi “looks shell-shocked a couple of times but mostly manages to deliver a creditable performance,” according to a Rediff.com critic.
