Sean Connery

Biography:

Sean Connery was a Scottish actor who rose to international fame playing the iconic role of James Bond in various movies, earning himself a place among the most recognizable male movie stars. Sean Connery was born on 25th August 1930 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Before joining the movie industry, Sean had worked in different jobs, including that of a bodybuilder and model. He started his movie career in the 1950s and played the character of Bond in Dr. No in 1962, followed by the movies From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983).

Apart from the character of Bond, Sean Connery displayed versatility in other movies, including The Man Who Would Be King (1975), The Untouchables (1987), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990) and The Name of the Rose (1986). For his character of Jim Malone in The Untouchables, he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as well as BAFTA award and Golden Globe awards. In 2000, Sean Connery was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama. He continued acting till early 2000s but retired after that. His last major movie performance was in the movie The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003). Sean Connery passed away in Nassau, Bahamas, on 31st October 2020.
