Sauraseni Maitra began modelling at a young age. She began her career as an actress in the 2012 action drama Chittagong, which was directed by Bedabrata Pain. She later starred alongside Aashish Bhatt and Uplaksh Kochhar in Prashant Nair’s comic drama Umrika, which was released in 2015. Meghnadbodh Rohoshyo, a thriller directed by Anik Datta and starring alongside Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee, is one of her 2017 releases. Her other endeavour is the drama film Maacher Jhol, directed by Pratim D. Gupta and starring Paoli Dam and Kaya Blocksage alongside Sauraseni. She appeared in an advertisement directed by Anik Dutta, a Bengali filmmaker, alongside Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.
