Satyanshu Singh

Biography:

Satyanshu Singh is an award-winning Indian filmmaker, author, screenwriter, and cinema educator who is popular for his work in Hindi movies and digital entertainment. An individual with a background of being a medical graduate, who chose to become a filmmaker, began his career by penning poems for Vikramaditya Motwane’s Udaan (2010) and later became the lyricist of movies like Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Sulemani Keeda.

The first movie of Satyanshu Singh, the Kashmiri short film Tamaash (2013) which won the National Film Award (Special Jury Award), made him a unique filmmaker in the world of Indian independent cinema. Apart from making movies, Singh has been teaching screenwriting in various institutions including Actor Prepares and has been mentoring AIB’s First Draft screenwriting residency along with being the creative consultant on some projects of SonyLIV.

Singh co-wrote and co-directed the movie Chintu Ka Birthday (2020) which got well-acclaimed after premiering on ZEE5. Later, Singh directed the political crime thriller movie Jehanabad – Of Love & War (2023) for SonyLIV and worked as a writer, director, and showrunner for Netflix’s prison drama Black Warrant (2025). An individual who is known for his realistic approach and unique story-telling style, Satyanshu Singh has proved his worth in the world of Indian cinema and OTT platform.
