Samir Soni

Biography:

Samir Soni is an Indian film and television actor, director, and former fashion model. He began his acting career with the Hindi serial “Samandar” and played Ashok Mathur in Doordarshan’s “A Mouthful Of Sky” in 1996. His film debut came with “China Gate” (1998), followed by several cameo appearances.

In 2003, Soni appeared in the film “Baghban” and had lead roles in “Basti” and “Kahan Ho Tum.” That same year, he also starred in the television series “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.” In 2004, he worked in “Saaksshi.” In 2010, Soni was a contestant on the reality TV show “Bigg Boss 4.”

He played the lead role in Ekta Kapoor’s soap opera “Parichay – Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka” (2013), which earned him the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor and the ITA Award for Best Actor – Drama (Popular) in 2012.

Soni made his directorial debut in 2018 with the film “My Birthday Song,” starring Sanjay Suri. Born on September 29, 1968, into a Punjabi Hindu family in London, UK, he attended St. Xavier’s School in Delhi and graduated in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Before entering Bollywood, Soni worked as an investment banker on Wall Street in New York. He later returned to India to pursue modeling and acting, having attended acting courses in New York and Los Angeles.

During his modeling career, he met and married Rajlakshmi Khanvilkar, though they divorced after six months. He was engaged to Nafisa Joseph for two years before they broke up. On January 24, 2011, he married former actress Neelam Kothari, and the couple later adopted a daughter.
