Saira Bhanu

Banu, also known as Saira Bhanu, is a versatile Indian actress active in the Telugu film industry, renowned for her acting prowess and television presenting skills. Born into an Urdu-speaking family in Hyderabad, she received her education at the prestigious Hyderabad Public School before pursuing further studies at Acharya Nagarjuna University in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

Banu marked her debut in the Tollywood film industry with the comedy film “100 Kotlu,” directed by Ramana Martial, in 2007. However, the movie did not fare well at the box office. Undeterred, Banu continued her journey in Telugu cinema, playing notable roles in subsequent films. One of her early lead roles was in the Telugu film “Siluva Needalo,” directed by Netaji, which premiered in March 2009.

Her performance in the Telugu thriller “Tik Tik Tik,” directed and produced by Arunakantha and released in March 2010, garnered positive attention from the audience. Banu showcased her versatility by appearing in films across various genres, including romance comedy (“Inkosari”), action (“Simha,” directed by Boyapati Srinu), and drama (“Varoodhini.com”).

In August 2012, Banu featured in the Telugu drama “Varoodhini.com,” directed by Gopallapudi Rajkumar. She further showcased her acting skills in the comedy romance “Gavvalata” in February 2014, directed by Ratnakar Rao, and the love-story “Ninu Chusina Kshanana,” directed by Nagesh Nara Dasi, which hit the screens in February 2015.

Banu faced a period of negative media attention in 2010 when she, along with Jyothi, was arrested by Hyderabad Police under suspicion of involvement in prostitution. However, the police released them shortly afterward.

Banu’s career in Telugu cinema demonstrates her dedication to the craft and her ability to take on diverse roles across different genres. Despite facing challenges, she has continued to contribute to the entertainment industry and remains a recognizable figure in the Telugu film landscape.
