Sabbir Khan is an Indian film director and screenwriter. His father, Noor Dewasi, was a lyricist in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
He made his directorial debut with Kambakkht Ishq, a 2009 Hindi-language romantic comedy produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film was based on the 2002 Tamil movie Pammal K. Sambandam and starred Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles, with Aftab Shivdasani and Amrita Arora in supporting roles. Hollywood actors Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, Brandon Routh, and Holly Valance made cameo appearances as themselves. The film was released on July 3, 2009.
Khan then directed Heropanti, a remake of the 2008 Telugu romantic drama Parugu. The film marked the Bollywood debuts of Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, with Prakash Raj in a supporting role. It was released worldwide on May 23, 2014.
His next directorial venture was Baaghi, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. This was his third consecutive collaboration with Nadiadwala. The film starred Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, and Sudheer Babu in his Hindi debut. Following this, Khan worked with Tiger Shroff again in Munna Michael, which featured Nidhi Agerwal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Produced by Viki Rajani and Eros International, the film was released on July 21, 2017.
Khan’s most recent film, Nikamma, is a 2022 Hindi-language action comedy starring Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia, and Shilpa Shetty. It is a remake of the Telugu film Middle Class Abbayi.
