SP Charan, born on January 7, 1972, in Chennai, is the son of the late legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and Savitri. He grew up in Chennai with his sister Pallavi. He went to Asan Memorial CBSE School and was friends with Tamil actor Ajithkumar.
In his personal life, Charan went through divorces from his first wife Smitha in 2002 and later from his second wife. Rumors now circulate about his preparation for a third marriage. These personal events have also been a part of Charan’s life journey alongside his contributions to music and the film industry.
After school, he studied Business Administration at Pace University in New York, finishing in 1994. He also did a two-year course in Film and Television.
Charan is known for singing popular songs like “Nagila Nagila” from Alaipayuthey, “Mellaga” from Varsham, and “Nenu Nenuga Lene” from Manmadhudu.
He started in movies acting alongside his father in an unreleased film called Maha Yedabidangi. In 2002, he founded Capital Film Works, producing his first movie “Unnai Charanadainthen” where he starred alongside friend Venkat Prabhu. This marked his entry into both film production and acting.
