Biography:
Rohit Jugraj Chauhan is an Indian film director, writer, and producer of films made for Hindi and Punjabi language cinema. After having worked as an assistant to directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ram Gopal Varma in projects like Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar and Bhoot respectively, he made his debut as a film director with the action film in Hindi, James (2005) featuring actor Mohit Ahlawat.
Some of his other directorial works include Superstar (2008), Jatt James Bond (2014), Sardaar Ji (2015), Sardaarji 2 (2016), Khido Khundi (2018), and Arjun Patiala (2019). In addition to this, some of his notable writing credits include Players (2012).Jugraj gained prominence in the Punjabi cinema through his collaborations with actors Diljit Dosanjh and Gippy Grewal, making films in the highly successful Sardaar Ji series and also Jatt James Bond.
Later he entered the streaming world of entertainment where he directed the Netflix thriller series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (2022) and the SonyLIV musical crime drama Chamak (2023), portraying the dark world of the Punjabi music industry. His style of filmmaking is marked with commercial sensibilities, action-driven storylines, comedy, music, and regional cultural settings. With experience in both Hindi and Punjabi film industries, Rohit Jugraj has become an influential filmmaker that can work on both mainstream and OTT projects.
