Remi Adefarasin is an English cinematographer who was born on February 2, 1948. He was the first Black person to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography for his work on Elizabeth (1998).
After attending Harrow College to study photography and filmmaking, he began working as a camera trainee at BBC-TV’s Ealing Studios. In the 2012 New Year’s Honours, Adefarasin was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions to film and television.
