Ranjit Barot is an Indian music director, vocalist, percussionist, arranger, and composer for cinema scores He has known A. R. Rahman for a long time. According to John McLaughlin, he is among the “leading edges” in drumming. On January 1, 1959, Barot was born into a family of Indian dancers and musicians. Sitara Devi, his mother, was a Varanasi-born Kathak dancer. Gujarat was his father’s home state.
