Ranjan Chandel

Biography:

Ranjan Chandel is an Indian writer, director and film-maker who is popular for his contributions to Hindi films and digital entertainment industry. He has started his career as a writer and assistant director, and he has collaborated with several celebrated filmmakers in writing screenplays of films such as Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016), in which he was the director’s assistant. Also, he has co-written the award winning short film called ‘Juice’ by Neeraj Ghaywan, and he has been the part of the screenplay writing team of Mukkabaaz (2018). His short film Jaan Jigar (2018) has won the Best Debut Film award at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF).

His feature film directorial debut came through ZEE5’s romantic drama Bamfaad (2020), starring Aditya Rawal and marking the Hindi debut of Shalini Pandey. His second feature film as a writer-director was the Disney+ Hotstar’s period drama Grahan (2021), based on the novel Chaurasi by Satya Vyas, and the film has got high praises. He has been nominated for Best Director at Filmfare OTT Awards through the film Grahan. Also, he has written and directed the miniseries Osho – Laxmi (2021). Some of the other films which have been written by him include Nishaanchi (2025).
