Indian film director, actor, and producer Ramesh Sippy was born on January 23, 1947, and works primarily in Hindi cinema. His most well-known work is the 1975 film Sholay, which is considered to be one of the most important Indian films ever created. In 2013, the Indian government bestowed upon him the Padma Shri award.
He established the Mumbai-based Ramesh Sippy Academy of Cinema & Entertainment in 2017.
G. P. Sippy was a producer and Sippy’s father. Actress Kiran Juneja is the current spouse of Ramesh Sippy, who has been married twice. He has three kids with Geeta, his first wife. Film director Rohan Sippy is his son. Before their 2004 divorce, his daughter Sheena was wed to Kunal Kapoor, the son of Shashi Kapoor.
When he was six years old, Ramesh Sippy went to the sets of his father’s debut movie, Sazaa. In 1953’s Shahenshah, he portrayed Achala Sachdev’s son in his feature debut, which happened at the age of nine. He was employed in the direction and production sections of movies like Mere Sanam, which his father was producing, and Johar-Mehmood in Goa. Before taking on the role of director of the 1971 hit film Andaz, starring Shammi Kapoor, Hema Malini, and Rajesh Khanna, he served as an assistant for seven years. Hema Malini played two roles in his second film, Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), which was a huge hit and catapulted Malini into celebrity. in 1975.
