Ram Madhvani

Biography:

Ram Madhvani is an Indian filmmaker, producer, and director who works in Hindi cinema, advertisements, and streaming media. The beginning of his career was in advertisement and soon he became one of the best-known commercial directors of India before starting making feature films. Ram Madhvani debuted with the movie Let’s Talk (2002), that had been screened at Locarno Film Festival and won the Best Debut Director award at the Srinivas Gollapudi National Awards. He gained fame with the biographical thriller Neerja (2016), starring Sonam Kapoor and Shabana Azmi. The film was a huge success both commercially and critically and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, and Ram Madhvani won many awards for being the Best Director.

The creator started to make longform streaming movies with Aarya (2020-2024), that he co-created, co-directed, and produced under Ram Madhvani Films. The series, starring Sushmita Sen, was nominated for the International Emmy Award in the category of Best Drama Series, and Madhvani remained a showrunner for all three seasons. After that, he made and produced the thriller Dhamaka (2021) for Netflix, starring Kartik Aaryan, and created and directed The Waking of a Nation (2025) for SonyLIV, a historical drama based on the events of Jallianwala Bagh massacre and its aftermath.
