The English actor and filmmaker Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes was born on December 22, 1962. In addition to being nominated for three Academy Awards, seven Golden Globes, and a Primetime Emmy Award, he has garnered other honours for his performances on stage and television, including a Tony Award and a BAFTA Award.
Fiennes, who was trained at and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1985, was born in Ipswich, Suffolk. He was a Shakespeare interpreter who first achieved success at the Royal National Theatre and then at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Fiennes earned the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role as Prince Hamlet in the 1995 Broadway revival of Hamlet. Later, he received a Tony nomination for his performance in the Brian Friel play Faith Healer (2006) as a travelling faith healer.
