Rakshit Shetty

Rakshit Shetty, born on June 6, 1983, is a prominent figure in the world of Indian cinema, with a multifaceted career spanning acting, film production, screenwriting, and filmmaking, primarily in Kannada cinema. His contributions to the industry have earned him numerous accolades, including one National Film Award, two Filmfare Awards South, two Karnataka State Film Awards, and five SIIMA Awards.

Rakshit’s journey in the film industry commenced with his debut in “Namm Areal Ond Dina” in 2010. However, it was the cult blockbuster “Ulidavaru Kandanthe” in 2014 that catapulted him to stardom, serving as a breakthrough moment in his career. Subsequently, he solidified his position as a leading actor with remarkable performances in films like “Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu” (2015), “Kirik Party” (2016), “Avane Srimannarayana” (2019), and “777 Charlie” (2021), the latter being the highest-grossing film in his career.

Rakshit Shetty is affectionately known as the “Simple Star” in the film industry, reflecting his unique and down-to-earth approach to filmmaking. He has also ventured into film production and distribution with his company, Paramvah Studios.

Born into a Tulu-speaking Bunt family, Rakshit Shetty hails from Udupi. He received his education in his hometown and exhibited a deep passion for the traditional Tulu Nadu folk dance called Pili Nalike during his school days. This passion for the dance form played a significant role in his 2014 film, “Ulidavaru Kandanthe,” where he prominently featured the dancers.

Before embarking on his film career, Rakshit pursued a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications engineering at N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology in Nitte, Karkala. Following his graduation, he spent two years working as a software professional before transitioning to the world of acting, initially starting in theatre.
