Biography:
Indian documentary filmmaker Rakesh Sharma was born in 1964. Final Solution, a full-length documentary about the 2002 Gujarat riots, is his most famous creation. Rakesh Sharma moved to Delhi to complete his school and college education after spending his early years in Agra. In 1986, he began working as a television journalist.
In 1984, Kumar earned a BA Honors in Economics from SRCC, University of Delhi. In 1986, he completed an MA in Mass Communication at Jamia Millia Islamia MCRC.
In 1986, he founded Newstel, a Delhi-based news organization that provides stories and features to Doordarshan (DD), the public broadcaster. He worked as an assistant director on Shyam Benegal’s “Discovery of India/Bharat Ek Khoj,” a 35mm film series of 53 episodes and 270 reels, from 1987 to 1989.
