Rajendra Gupta, an Indian actor and director, was born on October 17, 1947. He has appeared in films, television shows, and theater. He is well-known for his television roles as Adina Beg Khan Sahib e Azam in the 2010 Maharaja Ranjit Singh series, Pandit Jagannath in the 1990s Doordarshan fantasy television series Chandrakanta, and Jagat Narayan, Sudha’s father, in the 1998–2001 Sony TV drama Saaya.
Gupta is a 1972 batch member of the National School of Drama alumni and has acted in multiple TV shows and motion pictures. In the 2001 Oscar-nominated film Lagaan, he portrayed Champaner’s Mukhiya (village headman). Additionally, he portrayed Kesri Narayan in the Sab TV series Chidiya Ghar. Together with actor Gaurav Prateek, he appears in the high-budget Hindi-Haryanvi movie Rukke Padge. He is now seen on Sony TV in Jagannath Aur Purvi Ki Dosti Anokhi as Pandit Jagannath Mishra.
Gupta completed his studies at Kurukshetra University after being born in Panipat into a business family.In Gupta’s father, Master Ji, had a woolen textile company, but he had no interest in the industry; theater and dramatics were more his style. While in Indore for a college play, Gupta got to know his future wife, Veena, a Christian. The pair eloped to Bhopal, got married, and then left for their home because Veena’s parents did not approve of their union.
Gupta enrolled at the National School of Drama in New Delhi in 1972 and finished his post-graduation studies there. Television actress Ravee Gupta is the daughter of Gupta and she is wed to actor Manoj Bidwai.
