Rajeev is an Indian actor primarily known for his work in the Tamil film industry, although he has also made notable appearances in Malayalam films. In Malayalam cinema, he gained recognition for his roles in successful films like “Ustaad” (1999), “F.I.R” (1999), “Sathyam” (2004), and “Collector” (2011). His standout performance came in the 1999 crime thriller film “F.I.R,” where he played the villainous character Narendra Shetty.
Born in Madurai as Rajasekhar, Rajeev’s early life saw him facing the loss of his parents. Initially hesitant to marry, he eventually agreed after his brothers’ insistence and tied the knot with Rani. The couple has a daughter named Meena Kamakshi and a son named Kiran Surya.
Rajeev’s journey in the entertainment industry wasn’t without its challenges. He started by applying for auditions to act in films but faced struggles and rejections. At one point, due to a lack of opportunities, he even worked as a waiter at Taj Coromandel Hotel. However, his talent for dancing earned him recognition when he won a competition at the hotel, leading his friends to encourage him to pursue a career in films. His breakthrough came when he met Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad and was subsequently offered a dubbing opportunity, which opened doors for his acting career. He played various roles in different languages, including Tamil and Kannada, ultimately establishing himself as a versatile actor in the South Indian film industry.
