Rahul Handa

Biography:

Rahul Handa is a proficient storyteller, screenwriter, actor, and director. He holds a prominent position in the realm of Bollywood and is most renowned for crafting the script of a movie featuring Vijender Singh, the Indian Olympic medalist turned professional boxer. Born overseas, he spent a significant portion of his life abroad. During his early years, he experienced numerous school changes, completing his education at Learners’ Academy in Mumbai, United World College in Singapore, and American School in Dhaka.

During his school days, Rahul delved into theatre and took on directing roles in plays to refine his acting abilities. He pursued his academic journey by graduating in Film from Emerson College in Boston, driven by his aspirations. His acting career commenced with the film “Marega Salaa” (2009), where he shared the screen with Kim Sharma and Jimmy Shergill. The movie revolves around the character Anirudh, a renowned musician, and his murder.

In “Marega Salaa,” Rahul portrayed the role of Anirudh, a music company manager. Despite the film not achieving significant popularity, Rahul persisted in his pursuits. He also contributed as an Assistant Director in films like “Gollu Aur Pappu” and “Hasmukh Pighal Gaya.” His visibility grew while working as an Associate Director on “Fugly.”

Rahul began outlining the screenplay for “Fugly” during his Film studies at Emerson. He believed the film resonated with and was targeted at the youth. The movie narrates the story of four friends navigating career uncertainty, whose lives take a tumultuous turn when they challenge a police officer. “Fugly” stands as Rahul Handa’s most accomplished work.

He attributes much of this achievement to Kabir Sadanand and his parents. When asked about his future aspirations, he enthusiastically expresses a desire to eventually become a director. He is currently engrossed in crafting a new script. Despite facing numerous challenges, he presents himself as a resilient individual, standing up for his convictions—perhaps a key ingredient in his success.
