Rachel Shelley is an English actress, model, and audio producer who was born on August 25, 1969. Her most well-known roles are those of Elizabeth Russell in the Oscar-nominated Bollywood epic Lagaan and Helena Peabody in the Showtime series The L Word.
Born in Wiltshire, England, in the United Kingdom, on August 25, 1969, Rachel Irene Shelley spent much of her childhood in Cambridgeshire. With an older sister and two older brothers, she is the youngest of four children. Before going to Huntingdon for school, Shelley lived in Malta for three years. After earning a B.A. Hons. in English and Drama from the University of Sheffield in 1992, she founded a community theater company in Sheffield and worked for a minor theater in Edinburgh before relocating to London to pursue her acting career.
