Rachel Kondo is a writer and television producer from the United States. Her O. Henry Award-winning short story “Girl of Few Seasons” was a finalist. She is of Japanese heritage and co-executive producer with her husband, Justin Marks, for the 2024 adaption of Shōgun Kondo. Pukalani, Hawaii, is where she was raised. Kondo studied for her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Texas in Austin’s Michener Center for Writers. She got a portion of the $50,000 runner-up award and was a finalist for the 2014 Keene award for Literature while she was there.
She co-wrote and co-executive produced the 2024 Shōgun re-adaptation with her husband, Justin Marks. Alongside the show’s stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, Kondo was named one of the Most Impactful Asians of the year by Gold House in the same year.
