Prasoon Joshi is a versatile Indian poet, writer, lyricist, screenwriter, and marketing expert. He is the CEO of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of McCann Erickson’s Asia-Pacific division. Appointed Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification on August 11, 2017, Joshi has won multiple awards, including three Filmfare Best Lyricist Awards (2007, 2008, 2014) and two National Film Awards for Best Lyrics (2007, 2013). He was honored with the Padma Shri in 2015 for his contributions to arts and literature.
Born on September 16, 1971, in Uttarakhand, Joshi’s early life in northern India, including places like Almora and Delhi, deeply influenced his work. His father was an education service director, and his mother was a political science lecturer and All India Radio performer. Joshi began writing at 17, with his first book, Main Aur Woh. His subsequent books include Dard So Raha Hai and Samadhan. In 2013, he launched Sunshine Lanes at the Jaipur Literature Festival and published Thinking Aloud in 2016. After studying Physics and earning an MBA, Joshi merged his artistic passion with business in advertising.
