R. Sundaramoorthy is a renowned makeup artist and actor from India, recognized for his contributions to both Hindi and Tamil cinema. He is most celebrated for his exceptional work in the film “Padayappa,” released in 1999. Sundaramoorthy holds the distinction of being the first makeup artist for the iconic actor Rajinikanth, a collaboration that has significantly impacted his career.

Sundaramoorthy’s journey in the film industry commenced as an assistant to his father, A. V. Ramachandran Mudaliar, who was a respected makeup artist himself. During his career, he lent his makeup expertise to a multitude of artists, including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Saritha, Thiagarajan, Murali, and J. P. Chandrababu. However, his enduring association with Rajinikanth, which began with the film “Apoorva Raagangal,” stands out as a remarkable highlight. Sundaramoorthy’s collaboration with Rajinikanth extended over the years and encompassed the superstar’s 100th film, “Sri Raghavendrar.” He received accolades for his exceptional makeup artistry in “Padayappa,” earning him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Makeup Artist.
