Actor and producer Rattihalli Nagendra Sudarshan, who primarily worked in Kannada film, was born in India on May 2, 1939, and passed away on September 8, 2017. In addition, he had performed in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi movies. He had appeared in over 250 films throughout the course of a career spanning more than five decades.
The seasoned actor R. Nagendra Rao was the father of R. N. Sudarshan. His eldest brother, R. N. K. Prasad, died in 2012, and his elder brother, R. N. Jayagopal, died in 2008. He was also a well-known songwriter. He was wed to Shylashri, an actress.
At the age of 21, Sudarshan made his debut as a lead actor in a Kannada film in 1961 with Vijayanagarada Veeraputra. Before playing villainous characters in more than 60 films, he starred in over 60 films as the lead.
In 2009–10, Sudarshan received the esteemed Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award. Aged 78, he passed away on September 8, 2017, due to kidney disease.
