R. Krishnamoorthy, a prolific Tamil director and screenwriter, dominated the 1980s film scene. His most iconic works include “Billa” (1980), starring Rajinikanth, and “Vaazhvey Maayam” (1982), featuring Kamal Haasan. These films cemented his legacy as a director who could bring out the best in India’s biggest stars.

R. Krishnamoorthy, a prolific Tamil director and screenwriter, reigned supreme in the 1980s. His career was marked by frequent collaborations with renowned production houses, particularly K. Balaji and Suresh Balaje’s Suresh Arts banner.

Billa (1980), starring Rajinikanth, became a critical and commercial success, earning Krishnamoorthy the nickname Billa Krishnamoorthy. He further solidified his partnership with Rajinikanth in “Thee” (1981) and delivered acclaimed films like “Savaal” (1981) and “Vaazhvey Maayam” (1982) with Kamal Haasan.
