Pushpendra Nath Misra is a modern Indian film director, screenwriter, showrunner, and advertisement maker known for his clever sense of humour and culturally grounded storytelling in the sphere of Hindi digital entertainment and cinema. Having graduated from the National Institute of Design (NID) based in Ahmedabad, he made an impressive career in the advertising industry before completely switching to feature film production and screenwriting.Misra earned nationwide popularity with his satirical comedy feature film Ghoomketu (2020) with Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing a writer who wants to become a part of Bollywood and faces many challenges in pursuit of success.
After that, the director became a well-known person in the realm of streaming services and launched several Netflix originals as a showrunner and director. Among his famous digital movies are romantic drama Taj Mahal 1989 (2020) and heist comedy thriller Choona (2023).Misra’s works are usually distinguished by realistic scripts full of characters and a distinctive combination of dry humour and interesting locations that help to see life’s peculiarities against the background of realistic India.
