Pradeep Sarkar

Biography:

Pradeep Sarkar was a well-known Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and advertising director who was famous for his notable contributions to the world of Hindi cinema and television. Starting his successful career in the world of advertisements, he directed more than 1,000 commercial advertisements and memorable 90’s music videos before he directed his first feature film, Parineeta (2005), featuring Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan.

This movie became a great hit both commercially and critically; for his visually stunning work as a director in the film, Sarkar received the National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director.

He proved his versatile nature as a film director by successfully directing other movies in the genres of romance, drama, and thriller, such as Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007), Lafangey Parindey (2010), Mardaani (2014), and Helicopter Eela (2018). Pradeep Sarkar has also made some contributions to digital entertainment through his segments in the movies Forbidden Love (2020) and the series Duranga (2022), which is a ZEE5 psychological thriller series based on the Korean drama Flower of Evil.
