Indian film director Prabhu Solomon was born on May 7, 1969, and has mainly directed Tamil movies. Following the triumph of the romantic tragedy film Mynaa (2010), he had a mediocre career after making his directorial debut with Kannodu Kanbathellam in 1999.
Solomon was up in the Tamil Nadu town of Neyveli, in the Cuddalore region. His love of movies was sparked by his frequent attendance at the town’s single movie theater. He moved to Chennai after completing a master’s degree in English literature and attending St. Paul’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School. He began working in the film industry in 1991, and during the first three years of his career, he sought out chances to be part in ongoing productions.
In Namma Annachi (1994), he first assisted Sarathkumar as a stunt double. It was during this filming that he first got to know associate director Sundar C. As a result, he became an assistant director in Sundar’s 1995 film Murai Maman and later collaborated with Agathiyan on the critically acclaimed Kadhal Kottai (1996).
He was given the chance to make a movie for Anbalaya Films after assisting them with the post-production of Murai Mappillai (1995) following the departure of director Sundar C. Although Anabalaya Films, the film’s producers, were hesitant to select a character actor in the lead role, Solomon decided to cast Raghuvaran and Bhanupriya in the film Kannodu Kanbathellam (1999).
