Peketi Sivaram

Peketi Sivaram, an esteemed Indian actor and director, left an indelible mark on the realms of Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinema. Born on October 8, 1918, in Pekeru village, East Godavari district, in what was then the Madras Presidency of British India (now Andhra Pradesh), Sivaram’s journey in the film industry was marked by notable achievements and contributions.

His acting prowess shone brightly in numerous Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films, with one of his most recognized roles being that of Bhagavan in the acclaimed film “Devadasu” (1953). His portrayal of this character garnered widespread recognition and applause, cementing his reputation as a versatile and skilled actor.

In addition to his acting career, Sivaram ventured into directing, helming several Telugu and Kannada films, including “Chuttarikalu” (1968), “Bhale Abbayilu” (1969), and “Kula Gouravam” (1972), which starred iconic actors like N. T. Rama Rao and Rajkumar.

Throughout his illustrious career, Sivaram’s contributions were duly acknowledged, culminating in the prestigious H. M. Reddy award bestowed upon him in 2002, a testament to his significant impact on the Indian film industry.

On a personal note, Sivaram was a family man, blessed with four sons and four daughters. He was briefly married to actress Jayanthi, and at the time of his passing on December 30, 2006, in Chennai, he was married to Prabhavathi. His legacy continues through his grandson, Prashanth, who has also ventured into the world of acting, making a name for himself in Tamil cinema.
