Biography:

Pavan Wadeyar, a multi-faceted talent in Kannada cinema, wears the hats of director, screenwriter, lyricist, actor, and producer. Born on December 10, 1987, he rose to prominence with his directorial debut, “Govindaya Namaha” (2012), which earned him the coveted SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director. Recently, his production venture, “Dollu,” garnered the prestigious National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Kannada in 2022, solidifying his position as a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

Pavan Wadeyar’s journey in the Kannada film industry began with him assisting renowned director Yogaraj Bhat on the 2010 film “Pancharangi.” This experience served as a springboard for his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed and commercially successful “Govindaya Namaha” in 2012. His talent was recognized with a prestigious SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director. Wadeyar then ventured into Telugu cinema by remaking the film as “Potugadu” in 2013.

His career skyrocketed with the massive success of “Googly,” starring superstar Yash and Kriti Kharbanda. In 2014, Wadeyar dipped his toes into acting with a role in “Preethi Geethi Ityaadi,” followed by his directorial masterpiece, “Rana Vikrama,” starring Puneeth Rajkumar, which became a blockbuster hit in 2015. In 2016, he showcased his versatility by directing diverse films like “Jessie” and “Nataraja Service.”

Wadeyar’s crowning achievement arrived in 2022 when his film “Dollu” triumphed at the 68th National Film Awards, bagging the prestigious award for Best Feature Film in Kannada. This victory cemented his position as a leading force in Kannada cinema.

Currently, Wadeyar is expanding his horizons by venturing into Bollywood with the ambitious project “Awasthi Vs Awasthi,” marking an exciting new chapter in his multifaceted career.

Pavan Wadeyar, born in Kunigal (originally Athani), found his calling in cinema after graduating in Commerce. He left his job at Fidelity and started his journey in Kannada films. He won a SIIMA Award for his debut, “Govindaya Namaha,” and later directed hits like “Googly” and “Rana Vikrama.” His “Dollu” won the National Award. Now married with two kids, he’s venturing into Bollywood with “Awasthi Vs Awasthi.”
