Paul Mackriell Copley is an English actor and voice actor who was born on November 25, 1944. He starred in 16 episodes of Downton Abbey from 2011 to 2015 as William Mason’s father, Mr. Mason, and in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2020 to 2021 as Arthur Medwin. Copley was raised next to a dairy farm in Denby Dale, West Riding of Yorkshire, where he was born. Harold, his father, and the rest of his family participated in amateur theatrical productions in the area. After attending Penistone Grammar School, he earned an Associate of the Drama Board (ADB) in Drama from the Northern Counties College of Education in Newcastle upon Tyne.
