Olivia Colman

Biography:

Olivia Colman, whose real name is Sarah Caroline Sinclair (née Colman; born January 30, 1974), is an English actress. She has won an Academy Award, four BAFTA Awards, two Emmys, three Golden Globes, and a Volpi Cup, among other honors.

Colman, who attended Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, made his breakthrough with the sitcom Peep Show on Channel 4 (2003–2015). Green Wing (2004–2006), That Mitchell and Webb Look (2006–2008), Beautiful People (2008–2009), Rev. (2010–2014), Flowers (2016–2018), and Fleabag (2016–2019) are some of her other comic television performances. Colman won two BAFTA Awards: Best Supporting Actress for the crime series Accused (2012) and Best Female Comedy Performance for the comedy series Twenty Twelve (2011–2012).

Colman, Sarah Caroline  was the daughter of chartered surveyor Keith Colman and nurse Mary (née Leakey), born in Norwich on January 30, 1974. She received a private education at Norwich High School for Girls before attending Gresham’s School in Holt, Norfolk, for her sixth form. At sixteen, Colman played Jean Brodie in a school production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, which was his debut part. She says she was inspired to pursue acting professionally by her mother’s interrupted ballet dancing career. Prior to pursuing acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where she earned her degree in 1999, Colman studied elementary education for a term at Homerton College in Cambridge.  She auditioned for the Cambridge University Footlights Dramatic Club, met future co-stars David Mitchell and Robert Webb, and made an appearance in the Channel 4 series The Word in 1995 under the alias “Colly” .
