American actor Oliver Platt was born on January 12, 1960, and is well-known for his roles in theatre and film. He has received nominations for two Screen Actors Guild Awards, one Tony Award, five Primetime Emmys, and a Golden Globe.
After making his acting debut in Married to the Mob (1988), Platt went on to become well-known for his parts in the following films: Beethoven (1992), Indecent Proposal, Benny & Joon, The Three Musketeers (all 1993), A Time to Kill (1996), The Impostors, Bulworth, Dr. Dolittle (all 1998), Lake Placid, Three to Tango, and Bicentennial Man (all 1999). His other noteworthy roles include X-Men: First Class (2011), Frost/Nixon (2008), Year One, 2012 (both 2009), Please Give, Love & Other Drugs (both 2010), The Ice Harvest, Kinsey (2004), The Ice Harvest, Gun Shy, Ready to Rumble (both 2000), Don’t Say a Word (2001), and Pieces of April (2003).
