Oduvil Unnikrishnan (13 February 1943 – 27 May 2006), a distinguished figure in Indian cinema, left an indelible mark with his versatile contributions to Malayalam films. Born in Wadakkanchery, Thrissur, Kerala, he emerged as an accomplished actor, recognized for his stellar performances in both dramatic and comedic roles. His illustrious career spanned over four decades, earning him the prestigious Kerala State Film Awards four times.

Initiating his artistic journey at Government Boys’ High School, Wadakkanchery, Unnikrishnan’s early exposure to music under Kalamandalam Vasudeva Panikker paved the way for his involvement in orchestras and theaters. His foray into acting commenced in the late 1970s with notable roles in films like “Darshanam” and “Chenda,” marking the beginning of a prolific career.

Oduvil Unnikrishnan’s cinematic journey flourished with memorable performances in iconic films such as “Guruvayur Keshavan,” “Sarapanjaram,” “Nizhalkuthu,” “Kathapurushan,” “Thooval Kottaram,” “Sargam,” and “Manassinakkare,” to name a few. Even in brief roles, like the idaykka player in “Devasuram,” directed by I. V. Sasi, he left an enduring impact.
