Nithyasree Mahadevan, born on August 25, 1973, is a renowned Carnatic musician and playback singer for Indian films in multiple languages. She has left an indelible mark on the music industry with her versatile talent and extensive contribution to the world of music.
Nithyasree was born to Lalitha Sivakumar and Iswaran Sivakumar. Her family has a rich musical heritage, with her paternal grandmother, D. K. Pattammal, and grand-uncle, D. K. Jayaraman, being prominent Carnatic vocalists. Her maternal grandfather was the mridangam maestro, Palghat Mani Iyer. Nithyasree learned music from her mother and was also a disciple of D. K. Pattammal. Her father, an accomplished mridangist, and her nieces have actively supported her musical journey.
Nithyasree was married to V. Mahadevan until his unfortunate passing in 2012. They have two daughters, Tanujashree and Tejashree, who have also accompanied her on stage in concerts.
