His first film as a director was Right Yaaa Wrong, an action thriller film released in 2010, which starred Sunny Deol, Irrfan Khan, and Konkona Sen Sharma. Pathak is a writer and director whose stories are known to be suspenseful and related to law enforcement and emotionally charged.

On the OTT platform, Pathak made the biopic crime drama Inspector Avinash, which is based on the true story of the policeman Avinash Mishra from Uttar Pradesh.
