Neeraj Madhav, known by his stage name NJ, is a multi-talented Indian actor, rapper, and dancer prominent in Malayalam cinema. Born on March 26, 1990, in Kozhikode, Kerala, Neeraj hails from a Malayali Brahmin family. His father, Dr. K. Madhavan, is a veterinarian, and his mother, Latha, is a teacher. Neeraj attended St. Joseph’s Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Calicut and later pursued a degree in Visual Communications from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kanchipuram. He furthered his education with a post-graduation in Theatre from the School of Drama and Fine Arts in Thrissur.
Neeraj’s artistic journey began with dance, and he showcased his talent on the reality television program “Super Dancer” on Amrita TV. He is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, having learned under the tutelage of Kalamandalam Saraswathy and her daughter, Aswathy. Additionally, he is skilled in chenda, studying under Kalanilayam Udayan Namboodiri.
In the realm of cinema, Neeraj made his debut with Raaj Prabavathy Menon’s “Buddy,” followed by notable roles in films such as “Memories” and “Drishyam,” both directed by Jeethu Joseph. He gained recognition for his performances in films like “1983,” “Sapthamashree Thaskaraha,” and “Oru Mexican Aparatha.” Neeraj also ventured into screenplay writing with the movie “Lavakusha” in 2017.
