Medaram Naveen Kumar Goud, known as Naveen Medaram, was born on August 7, 1979, in the Nizamabad district of Telangana, previously part of Andhra Pradesh. He began his career as a visual effects artist and swiftly progressed to become a film director. Raised in Nizamabad, his passion for the arts led him to enroll in Jawaharlal Nehru Arts University, Hyderabad, where he pursued his Bachelor’s degree. As his interest in cinema deepened, he obtained a Master’s degree in Visual Effects from Bournemouth University, UK, and a Diploma in Film Making from Raindance Film School, London. During his time at Raindance, he started writing screenplays for short and feature films.
While at Raindance, he co-directed a short film titled “Moving On” alongside five other directors. After completing his education, he produced and directed a short film called “Philophobia.” He ventured into the professional world, working as a Visual Effects Compositor at respected studios like Double Negative, The Moving Picture Company, and Pinewood Studios in the UK. He also worked in the USA as a Web Designer in Fremont.
His journey in feature films began with the 2005 TV series “Captain Scarlet,” where he worked as a digital compositor for one episode. In the following years, he gained valuable experience working on significant projects like “The Da Vinci Code,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Sixty Six,” and “Sunshine” while collaborating with MPC Pictures Company.
From 2007, he joined Double Negative Studios in the UK, engaging in roles such as digital compositor, visual effects artist, rotoscope artist, and 2D artist. His portfolio includes notable films like “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” “Iron Man 2,” “Green Zone,” “2012,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” “The Dark Knight,” and “Cloverfield.”
Between 2011 and 2014, Naveen Medaram contributed to critically acclaimed and financially successful films including “What We Did on Our Holiday,” “Les Misérables,” “Dark Shadows,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” and “The Veteran.” In 2016, he took on a significant project titled “The London Life,” where he was involved in screenwriting, storytelling, visual effects, and directing. The film, inspired by real experiences, portrays the challenges faced by students upon arriving in London.
