Nagesh Bhonsle

Biography:

Nagesh Bhosale is an Indian actor who has appeared in theatre, television, and movies. He starred in the live-action short film Anuja, which is a nominee for the 97th Academy Awards (Oscar 2025). Alongside Jason Isaacs, Armie Hammer, and Dev Patel, he also contributed to the 2018 movie Hotel Mumbai. Nagesh has appeared in hundreds of TV series episodes and over a hundred Indian films. He is one of the favourite villains of Marathi cinema and television.

He established the film production company Ajna Motion Picture Pvt. Ltd. in 2014.  Nagesh directed and produced Ajna’s debut feature, Panhala (2015), which received high praise from critics, numerous accolades, and screenings at both local and international cinema festivals, including China’s 25th Golden Rooster. At the PAMLA conference in Los Angeles, California, his next film, Nati Khel, was asked to be screened and used as a platform for discussion between filmmakers and PAMLA’s academic sponsors.

Additionally, in December 2016, it was named the “Film of Special Recommendation” at the Wuhan International Art Film Festival in China. In addition to winning Best Story & Best Art Direction at the Sanskruti Kala Darpan Awards in Mumbai, Best Director at the Ottawa International Film Festival in Canada, and Best Cinematography & Best Actress at the Golden Gate International Film Festival in the USA in California, it received Special Jury Mention at the Bodhisattva International Film Festival in 2017. Additionally, it was a formal selection at the Orange City International Film Festival and the Pune International Film Festival.
