Mucherla Aruna was born in Telangana’s Kothagudem into a family from Arjunudupalem, which is located close to the Tanuku West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. She grew up in Hyderabad and Chennai.
In the 1980 Tamil film Kallukkul Eeram directed by Bharathiraja, Aruna made her screen debut. In the Shankar films Sivappu Malli, Needhi Pizhaithathu, Sattam Sirikkiradhu, and Kanalukku Karaiyethu, she has been paired with actor Vijayakanth on multiple occasions.
She played minor roles as the second lead in a few Tamil films. In Pennin Vazhkai, she played Sudhakar’s sister; in Darling, Darling, Darling, she played Poornima Bhagyaraj’s friend. In the 1982 suspense film Kelviyum Naane Pathilum Naane, in which actress Srividya played an antagonist, she costarred alongside Karthik.
In addition, Aruna Mucherla starred in other enjoyable family-friendly films, including Sakalakala Sambanthi, Penmani Aval Kanmani, and Kathula Poo.
Seethakoka Chiluka, a Telugu movie, won the Best Feature Film Swarna (Gold) Nandi Award in 1981. In ten years, she acted in almost 80 films while majoring in all four South Indian languages.
In 1987, she wed Mohan, a Chandigarh-based businessman; together, the pair has four children. She and her family reside in Chennai.
