Mirosław Baszak is a cinematographer originally from Poland who has established a successful career in Canada. He is best known for his work on films such as Pontypool, Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, Land of the Dead, and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.
Before moving into film, Baszak was active in Poland’s theatre scene as both an actor and theatre professional. He also pursued academic studies in history and theory at the University of Łódź. In the early 1980s, he emigrated first to Germany and then settled in Canada in 1983. A year later, he enrolled in the film program at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (now Toronto Metropolitan University), marking the beginning of his film career.
Since then, Baszak has contributed to over 30 Canadian and American feature films and has been involved in numerous commercial and music video productions. His body of work reflects a deep understanding of visual storytelling and a wide-ranging versatility across different genres and formats.
