Michael Andrew Fox, a Canadian and American actor and activist, was born on June 9, 1961. His stage name is Michael J. Fox. He started out as a child actor in the 1970s and became well-known for his roles as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future movie trilogy (1985–1990) and Alex P. Keaton on the NBC sitcom Family Ties (1982–1989). Fox later starred in films like Doc Hollywood (1991), Teen Wolf (1985), The Secret of My Success (1987), Casualties of War (1989), and The Frighteners (1996). He made a comeback to television in the lead role of Mike Flaherty on the ABC sitcom Spin City (1996–2000).
Fox revealed his Parkinson’s illness diagnosis from 1991 in 1998. In order to support research, he established The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 after becoming an advocate for the discovery of a cure. He had to cut back on his acting career due to worsening ailments.
Fox provided the voices for the main parts in the animated feature Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) and the Stuart Little films (1999–2005). The comedy-drama Rescue Me (2009), the legal drama The Good Wife (2010–2016) and its spin-off The Good Fight (2020), and the comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm (2011, 2017) are just a few of the television shows in which he continued to make cameos. The Michael J. Fox Show, a brief sitcom that ran from 2013 to 2014, was Fox’s final significant role.
