Medha Shankr

Biography:

Indian actress Medha Shankr was born on August 1, 1997 and is well-known for her roles in Hindi movies. The British miniseries Beecham House (2019) marked Shankr’s acting debut, and she went on to play a few supporting roles. With the biographical drama 12th Fail (2023), she made her breakthrough and took up the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.

Shankr grew up in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where he was born. Shankr is a classical Hindustani singer with training. She graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi with a master’s degree in fashion management.

In 2019, Shankr made her acting debut as Roshanara in the British television series Beecham House.  Then, in 2021, Shankr made her cinematic debut in the Hindi adolescent musical Shaadisthan.  “Medha channels a teenager’s vulnerabilities and simmering frustrations with utmost honesty,” according to Shrishti Negi of News18.  In the same year, she played Eshwari, the youngest sibling, in the critically acclaimed streaming serial Dil Bekaraar.

In Max, Min, and Meowzaki from 2022, Shankr played Minara, a girl who breaks up with her lover for an older man. The movie won praise from critics at a number of film festivals. Shankr played UKPSC officer Shraddha Joshi in the 2023 drama film 12th Fail, with Vikrant Massey. “Medha Shankr as Shraddha, has a defined part as well, and she is the crutch that helps with lighter moments in the film,” wrote India Today’s Bhavna Agarwal. Shankr’s “poise and warmth” are impressive, according to Anuj Kumar of The Hindu. The movie turned out to be a sleeper hit. It turned out to be her big break and brought her more notoriety.
