Max Huang

Biography:

Max Huang You-liang, a German-Indonesian-Chinese actor, martial artist, and stuntman, was born Julian Maximilian Widjaja on September 22, 1988. He is well-known for both being a part of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team and playing Kung Lao in the 2021 movie Mortal Kombat, which is based on the fighting video game of the same name. Huang was born Julian Maximilian Widjaja in Nuremberg to a German mother and an Indonesian-Chinese father, conductor Noorman Widjaja. in the age of eleven, he started learning Wing Chun. Later, he joined the German National Wushu Team and won a gold medal in the 2009 German Nationals. He studied acting in the UK.

He took up the Chinese moniker Huang You-liang (Chinese: Ò又亮) when working in the Chinese film industry. “You-liang” is the Chinese soundalike for “Julian,” and Widjaja is the Indonesian transcription of “Huang”.
