Matthew Leutwyler

Biography:

Matthew Leutwyler is an American writer, director, and producer famous for his work in independent movies and TV shows. Having graduated from San Francisco Art Institute, he directed his debut feature-length film Road Kill (1999). Among other recognized productions, one can name Dead & Breakfast (2004), The River Why (2010), Answers to Nothing (2011), Uncanny (2015), and Fight Like a Girl (2024). Leutwyler creates movies in various genres, among which there are drama, thriller, horror, sci-fi, and comedy. The director pays much attention to creating engaging characters and using his visual style.

To explore Indian digital entertainment, Matthew Leutwyler co-directed the ZEE5 original action-thriller State of Siege: 26/11 (2020) with Prashant Singh. The series is based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11 and tells the story of Operation Black Tornado carried out by the National Security Guard during the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. This is Matthew Leutwyler’s first Indian project that is famous for its realism in action scenes and dramatic plot.
