Biography:
Martin Sheen is an eminent American actor who has been working in films, television shows, and theatres for more than six decades. Having been born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estevez on August 3, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, Martin Sheen has been doing television and theatre works since childhood and later started his career in films with works like The Subject Was Roses (1968), Badlands (1973), and Apocalypse Now (1979).
Martin Sheen made a career-defining role in his character of Captain Benjamin L. Willard in Apocalypse Now, and his other famous works include Gandhi (1982), Wall Street (1987), and The American President (1995). Martin Sheen gained immense television success as President Josiah Bartlet in the political drama The West Wing (1999-2006), which won him Golden Globe Award and six Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Despite the failure to get a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his role of President Josiah Bartlet, he won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1994 for his role in Murphy Brown.
