Mark Lane
Biography:
Mark Lane was an American lawyer, state senator from New York, civil rights advocate, and investigator of war crimes in Vietnam. He was born on February 24, 1927, and passed away on May 10, 2016. The assassination of US President John F. Kennedy is the subject of Lane’s most well-known study, writing, and conspiracy theories. Among the twelve books that Lane wrote or co-wrote were five about the assassination of JFK, the most famous of which being Rush to Judgment (1966). On the New York Times bestseller list, it peaked at number one. The book was intended as a trial lawyer’s combative defense of the Warren Commission’s procedures and findings. Shortly after the events in Dallas, Lane was hired by Marguerite Oswald, the mother of suspected assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, to defend her deceased son before the Warren Commission. This marked the beginning of Lane’s lifetime association with the JFK assassination. Later, Lane stood out for other publicly despised outcasts, including cult leader Jim Jones, American Indian Movement members Dennis Banks and Russell Means, and convicted assassin James Earl Ray.
