Mallika Sukumaran, formerly known as Mohamallika Pillai, is a renowned Indian actress and businesswoman predominantly associated with Malayalam cinema. Born on November 4, 1954, in Kozhikode, Kerala, she debuted in 1974 with the Malayalam film “Utharayanam,” directed by G. Aravindan. Over a career spanning more than six decades, she has graced over 60 films, earning accolades such as the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress for her role in the 1974 film “Swapnadanam.”

Her foray into television commenced with the tele-serial “Peythozhiyathe” by K. K. Rajeev, where she clinched the Second Best Actress Award in the Kaveri Film Critics Television Awards (2004) for her performance in “American Dreams.” Mallika’s versatility is evident in her comedic and character roles, earning her widespread recognition.

After a hiatus from acting, she returned to the screen with notable appearances in tele-serials like “Valayam,” “Snehadooram,” and “American Dreams.” Her comeback in films included the Rajasenan movie “Meghasandesham” and Ranjith’s “Ammakkilikkoodu,” both receiving acclaim.

Mallika’s personal life is intertwined with the entertainment industry. She married Malayalam actor Sukumaran in 1978, and their union resulted in two prominent actors in Malayalam cinema, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Indrajith Sukumaran. Furthermore, her daughter-in-law is the accomplished actress and television anchor Poornima Indrajith.
